Contemporary Issues of Gender in the Arctic
Organized by the Northern Research Forum, the Icelandic Arctic Cooperation Network and the Centre for Arctic Policy Studies at the University of Iceland 14. September 2017
The purpose of this session is to further promote an extensive, policy relevant dialogue on gender in the Arctic and to continue to raise awareness of the situation of men and women in the region.

The session builds on themes addressed at the conference “Gender Equality in the Arctic: Current realities Future Challenges” – held in Iceland in October 2014 - and includes topics such as Political Representation and Participation in Decision-Making: Gendered Dimensions; Regional Socio-Economic Development and its Gendered Impacts; Climate and Environmental Change, Natural Resource Development, and Gender; (Re-)Construction of Gender in the Arctic; Human Security: Gendered Aspects; and Human Capital and Gender: Migration, Mobility, Education and Adaptation, Indigenous peoples and underrepresented minorities of the Arctic.
